Patience and Pruning – John 15


Harvesting. Sowing. Husbandry. Shepherding. Threshing. Watering. Pruning. Tending. Feeding. Growth.
There are over 450 references to agriculture and farming in the Bible.

Conclusion 1: God loves gardening.

Adam and Eve’s only job, before the fall, was to tend to the garden of Eden. After the fall, the very first generation began farming, harvesting, and shepherding.

Conclusion 2: There is a special relationship we have to the land, planting, and fruit-bearing, and its effect on our spiritual walk with God.

Day 2: Walk This Way

Reading: John 1:35-51

I realize it’s not terribly important to meditate on the marginal details of Jesus’ day-to-day life, but I love to do it.

How good of a carpenter was He?

When/if He wrestled with His brothers, did He always win or did He demonstrate meekness and give in occasionally?

Was He a good cook?

I like thinking about Jesus’ humanity, if for no other reason than to be able to relate a little more with my Friend and Savior.  So when I read two verses in to today’s passage I hit a speed bump.
